Kenneth Chamberlain, a 68-year-old Black veteran with a history of mental illness, set off his medical alert device by accident ten years ago in White Plains, New York. Police were summoned to his residence for a welfare check, according to The New York Times. Chamberlain was shot and murdered ninety minutes later, after being baited with racial slurs and subdued by a taser weapon and beanbag bullets.
