Following the disappearance of their only kid, a man (McAvoy) travels to the town where his ex-wife (Foy) lives. In order to conjure an honest representation of a person whose life is veiled by mystery, McAvoy’s role was fully improvised; he was not provided a screenplay or dialogue. “My Son” is a remake of Christian Carion’s 2017 French film of the same name, which was also improvised. The English-language adaptation is also written and directed by Carion. IMDB
