Eastwood’s tone as a director is almost primordially plain; the murky moral calculations and delineated character arcs of The Unforgiven, American Sniper, or even Gran Torino are not for Macho. He indulges in some ludicrous fantasies as an actor, too: Hardened criminals cower at Mike’s right hook, while women can’t seem to stop throwing themselves at his feet in a fever of sexual hunger. But there’s a delicacy to his relationships with Rafo, and there’s something genuinely moving about watching him sleep on a desert floor with his ten-gallon hat in his lap, or drive down a dusty road with Macho following close behind. Mike is a man from another era: a lone wolf. IMDB
HBO Max has become synonymous with streaming new theatrical films, thanks to an unprecedented amount of films being published on the service at no additional cost the same day they are released in theaters in the United States. The most anticipated new film of the weekend, Clint Eastwood’s Cry Macho, is now available to stream on HBO Max. Malignant, the most current horror film from the creator of The Conjuring trilogy, is still available to watch on HBO Max. But don’t come to HBO Max expecting to see other recent blockbusters like Marvel’s Shang-Chi or The Legend of the Ten Rings.
